More Adults Tweaking Their Teeth

Not many people are born with perfect teeth. But, you're never too old to get them fixed.
If your teeth and jaw aren't aligned properly, it can lead to premature wear and tear, advanced tooth decay, gum disease, and even dentures. Reasons, like that, have people getting their teeth fixed later in life.
At the age of 26, the last thing Jaclyn Steele wanted was a mouth full of braces.
Steele says, "As an adult, honestly, I was really hesitant to go forward."
Especially after enduring her first set of braces at the age of 13. But Steele’s bit changed during a teenage growth spurt.
Orthodontist Melisa Rathburn says she’s seeing more adult patients than ever before.
Rathburn says, "It's not only for the cosmetic benefit, but for the functional benefit of the fact that we are living much, much longer.
Rathburn insists orthodontic patients have more options these days, including a style with ceramic or porcelain brackets.
Rathburn says, "These are clear braces, so you can see them and you can still see the wire. But it certainly minimizes the appearance of just the full metal look.
New technology makes it possible to design a patient’s treatment via computer and reduce the length of time braces need to be worn. But one thing hasn’t changed.
Adult treatment is often times more expensive because of the complexity or the difficulty of the case.
It’s a price Steele is wiling to pay to get a perfect smile and a perfect bite.
