2. Address escalating costs of infrastructure both private and public and exploring new methods of financing for both.
3. Determine adequate police numbers however that may be achieved.and hire them soon.
4. Keep the pressure on for funding for Lewis and Clark water project through our congressional delegation.
5. Monitor and rehabilitate older neighborhoods that are distressed on a number of fronts.
6. We need to do the study of all options and cost projections concerning a new Events Center or Coliseum, educate the public through a citizens advisory group and put it to the ballot. This needs to happen this year.
7. Advocate for conservative banking practices so we do not run the risk of overbuilding residential and commercial projects and wind up with some the overextension problems some communities have lapsed into.

Daniel E. Brooks
: 46
Occupation: Business owner
Family: Father of four children
Top priorities if elected to the Sioux Falls City Council:
I will be a representative of the Northwest community; to create an open line of communication within the Northwest community, so that the community Voice is represented to City Council. How: By internet response and bi-weekly community meeting.
City budget will be reviewed and open to the community, to identify areas where the City can utilize shared spacing and reducing management for same services; such as our city event center, at present we have three executive manager providing service for the city event centers.
To identify private funding for the greatly anticipated event center. Creating a design that would accommodate ice hockey, track, football and other events that will create revenue for the City, creating a plan of action that the city can support.
Growth of the city comes with many concerns, and the quality of life within our community must be neighborly in nature and in embracing each different culture within the community.
We must determine the need for more police and fire officers in order to maintain our quality of life within our city.
I will address the concerns of the city plans for repairing our roads and streets, flood plans and new water projects. The city needs to know where this money is coming from and what the status of the federal and state government funding is. If there is a tax increase needed, what is the very minimum (can less than .5% tax increase generate 20 million a year or more and then after we have what we need can the city revert back to our old tax rate.)
As the new elected Northwest City Council District member, I will work with the mayor and city council to bring answers to the city and the northwest community.
