Could South Dakota Matter?
March 24, 2008, 7:10 AM
In an interview on National Public Radio last year, Secretary of State Chris Nelson said South Dakota had a one-in-a-million chance to play a major role in the 2008 presidential race.
This year, he took back that statement, again on NPR.
While the Republican nomination was locked up relatively early, the Democrats still don't have a nominee.
Nelson says if there's still no clear Democratic winner in May, South Dakota's delegates could play a role. South Dakota's primary is June 3rd.
The voter registration deadline is May 19th.
