Obama In Mississippi, Clinton In Pennsylvania
March 11, 2008, 8:09 AM
Mississippi Democrats are deciding the last of the presidential contests between Barack Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton until the big battle in Pennsylvania.
With the opening of the polls this morning, Mississippi's large black electorate in today's primary makes it fertile ground for Obama. He's swept the other Deep South states. Clinton has already begun concentrating on Pennsylvania, the next major battleground six weeks from now. Clinton's camp says she has little chance in Mississippi.
Obama has drawn enthusiastic crowds in Columbus and Jackson, the state capital.
Clinton held a rally in Scranton, Pennsylvania yesterday while carefully side-stepping questions about political ally and New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, who's been accused in a call-girl scandal.
