Bush: McCain May Have To Work Harder

President Bush says Republican presidential candidate John McCain is a "true conservative," but may have to work harder to prove that to other conservatives.
In an interview with "Fox News Sunday," Bush says McCain is "is very strong on national defense" and "tough fiscally." Bush notes that McCain wants Bush's tax cuts to be permanent and that he's also "pro-life."
Says Bush: "His principles are sound and solid as far as I'm concerned."
Still, Bush says McCain still has some convincing to do, and that he'll be "glad to help him" if he becomes the party's nominee.
He says some of the criticism aimed at McCain is probably the result of "personal animosity" toward the Bush administration.
Meanwhile, when asked about Mike Huckabee's criticism of his foreign policy, Bush says he's sure there are quotes from candidates that make it look like they're at odds with the administration. But he adds that "what really matters" in a campaign are basic beliefs.
