Page To Be One Of Few Young People Executed

August 21, 2006, 7:32 AM by News Staff

Page To Be One Of Few Young People Executed
If 24-year-old Elijah Page is executed in South Dakota, he'll be only the eighth person younger than 25 to be executed in the United States since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976.

Page wants to be executed, and a judge has ruled that he's mentally capable of making that decision.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, Page is scheduled for lethal injection sometime next week. The exact date and hour must be announced by prison warden Douglas Weber within two days of the actual execution.

Page got a death sentence after pleading guilty to killing Chester Poage six years ago.

Also on death row for that killing is 25-year-old Briley Piper.
