What Does It Really Mean To Be Cold?

What Does It Really Mean To Be Cold?

There's been a lot of buzz about what parts of the country are truly cold.

Californians are complaining because of temps in the 50's, while east coasters are grappling with temperatures in the teens. But, people here in KELOLAND have a message for the rest of the country.

"Suck it up. Come hang out with us a couple weeks and you'll probably sing a different tune," Sioux Falls resident Glenn Williamson said.

"Well I'm from South Dakota so I'm used to it. And I have two daughters who live in Alaska, so this is nothing," Ann Tryon said.

"I think there's definitely a gap between understanding from people on the coast and people in the Midwest," Gary Myers said.

While it's not always easy, everyone has their own ways of coping with this balmy weather.

"I have on a wool sweater and a wool turtle neck and a fur coat," Tryon said.

"[I have] just another layer, a bigger coat," Myers said.

But, no matter how you handle it, this chilly weather is part of living in the Midwest.

"This is winter in South Dakota. If you live here, you have to accept it," Tryon said.

"I love the fact that we have all the seasons here. Makes it a little difficult in the winter, but overall I love it here and I would never leave," Williamson said.
