Luverne Schools Take On New Security Measures

Luverne Schools Take On New Security Measures

In Sioux Falls, school administrators plan to spend more than $6 million dollars on security, although they are not revealing the specifics of the plan.

Changes are also in the works at schools in Luverne, Minnesota, where school administrators say the school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut, was a catalyst for them to pull out its security plan and take a second look at it.

Some of the measures they've recently implemented are locking down all the doors and having visitors sign in and wear a badge if they're in the hallway with students.

The Luverne School District Superintendent says parents sometimes have an issue with change and adjusting to it, but when it comes to school safety, they always put children's safety first.

We'll have more on the new safety measures at Luverne schools tonight on KELOLAND News.
