Watching how warm we get tomorrow will be interesting. I’m a little skeptical on how warm Sioux Falls will get. Granted, we will warm as the night goes on but the clouds will limit us during the day. 41° is the tenth warmest Sioux Falls has been with at least a trace to an inch on the ground during the week of January 9-16.
Before then, as clouds thicken and temps warm there will be scattered light snow showers and flurries tonight with minor (if any) accumulations.
Thursday will feature back door cooling in eastern KELOLAND with warmer weather quickly returning on Friday. I think we have a better chance of hitting 40° on Friday than on Wednesday.
A taste of cold air will move in this weekend. Look for this to move through later in the day on Saturday with light snow being squeezed out on Sunday. Any light snow will get will definitely help our bitterly cold temps Monday morning and Tuesday morning. Coldest lows with a trace to an inch of snow on the ground for Jan 17-24 range from -23° to -12°, I have -12 for both mornings. In the 20s below in Aberdeen. The coldest highs range from 5° to 16°, Monday will be our coldest day…I kept the 5° for Sioux Falls and have below zero highs for Aberdeen. While Tuesday morning will remain in the teens and 20s below in eastern KELOLAND, afternoon temps will be warmer than Monday.
