Former Lawmaker Investigated For Child Porn

Former Lawmaker Investigated For Child Porn
Gil Koetzle

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Authorities are investigating the apparent suicide of a former lawmaker after investigators found child pornography in his email.

60-year-old Gil Koetzle was found dead in his home on Thursday, the day after law enforcement searched it.

Court papers say on Wednesday detectives took Koetzle's computers, memory cards and cell phone, as well as six bags of marijuana and paraphernalia.

In December, an agent with the Division Of Criminal Investigation received some tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited children.

Investigators used the information to trace emails with explicit images of girls from six to 15-years-old on Koetzle's computer.

A day later authorities were responded to a call for a cardiac arrest.  A spokesperson for the Sioux Falls Police Department says it appears Koetzle killed himself.

We'll take a closer look at the court papers and the investigation tonight on KELOLAND News.
