Storm Center Update - Sunday PM

January 13, 2013, 5:49 PM by Ben Cathey

With a few less clouds around and less low-level wind, we should cool off quickly this evening.  Flurries should continue in the far SW this evening, in the same general area where they’ve set up all day.  We could also get a few flurries across the Minnesota border, along with some rough wind chills.
There is a very large upper-level low pressure system taking up the western half of the country.  That led to variably cloudy skies today along with a sluggish warm-up.  This system will stick around for much of the next two days.  Tomorrow will be similar to today, with cool temperatures and periods of clouds and sunshine.  Light snow is again possible in the far western Black Hills during the day.  Winds will be out of the southwest.
We are watching a pretty weak system out to our west, which should arrive later Tuesday and into Wednesday.  There is not much moisture at this point, only a few hundredths of an inch at best.  Wyoming and Montana are looking at better snow totals.  We will warm up ahead of this, as new south winds arrive to KELOLAND.  Even after the storm takes off for North Dakota we will keep a warmer and pleasant forecast.  Snow should begin to melt from Wednesday through Thursday.  A powerful cold front will knock down our highs for this coming Sunday.
