Storm Center Update - Monday PM

January 7, 2013, 2:32 PM by Scot Mundt

KELOLAND had an above average day with Monday’s highs in the thirties and forties.  This trend will continue through at least Thursday.

Clouds will slowly increase for some of us as we head into this evening and tonight, but I do not expect any precip.  Lows tonight will fall to the teens in many locations with light winds.

The main weather story will be the strong winds for much of KELOLAND on Tuesday.  Strong northwest winds will kick in during the day at twenty-five to fifty miles per hour in western, central, and northeast KELOLAND.  Numerous High Wind Watches are already in effect for Tuesday.  Many locations will have their highs day during the late morning or early afternoon, just before the strong winds start, but we’ll still get temperatures to the thirties and forties.

Winds will quickly die down Tuesday night with Wednesday being a light wind day.  Wednesday will be the warmest day of the week with highs well into the thirties, forties, and fifties.

A storm system to our south has a chance to clip southeast KELOLAND on Thursday, it’s just a slight chance for precip, but we’ll continue to watch it.  If anything does fall, a lot of it should fall in the form of rain!  But colder air will soon move back in on Friday with snow chances for everyone this weekend.
