Two Hurt In Fiery Crash

Two Hurt In Fiery Crash

Police are investigating a fiery crash that sent two people to the hospital in southeast Sioux Falls.

The crash happened just after 1:30 Sunday morning when two SUVs collided at the intersection of Cook Road and Cliff Avenue, near Lincoln High School.

The impact of the crash pushed one of the SUVs into a power pole, fully-engulfing the vehicle.

Officers found the driver lying some distance from the vehicle with burns to her arm and stomach.

The second vehicle was close to the flames and emergency crews were concerned that it would also catch fire.  An officer removed the driver, who was still behind the wheel.  That driver received a broken pelvis, femur and ankle.

Police say both drivers are expected to recover from their injuries.

Police shut down traffic on Cliff Avenue from 33rd to 36th Streets while they worked the scene.
