SF Police, Fire Rescue In Final Push For Blood

SF Police, Fire Rescue In Final Push For Blood

The need for blood donations has been on the rise.  Some local first responders and two hospitals are answering the call for help with a little fun.

This is the 18th year of the Heroes Behind The Badge competition between the Sioux Falls Police Department and Sioux Falls fire Rescue.

The goal is to bring in the most blood donations and Friday is the last day and final push for both teams.

People who want to participate can visit the Sanford Medical Center or Avera McKennan Hospital donor rooms or a Blood Mobile location and designate their blood donation to the department of their choice.

No matter who wins, the event is a success because it brings in nearly 90 percent of the needed blood for Sioux Falls during the holiday season.

Blood Mobile Schedule:
8 a.m. to 10 a.m. & noon to 4 p.m.: Sioux Falls Police Department (Law Enforcement Center)
9 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Sanford Research
2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Memorial Middle School
