Storm Center Update-Monday AM

December 31, 2012, 6:38 AM by Brian Karstens

A cold front is moving through KELOLAND and temperatures will be falling today, especially in the east.  Temperatures by 5pm will be around 2 in Sioux Falls with subzero temperatures likely across the northeast.  Wind chills will be coldest in western MN where a wind chill advisory has been posted tonight.

The forecast will be a little warmer tomorrow on New Year’s Day with highs warming into the mid teens in the east, with lower 30s in the west.  We will be watching the wind forecast by Wednesday as stronger winds will develop in western SD.  Some blowing snow is expected, so be advised of that and we’ll keep you posted as this system approaches.  Some light snow and flurries will be possible as well Wednesday afternoon.

Temperatures will be colder again on Thursday, but a warmer trend is just around the corner with highs rebounding into the upper 20s and lower 30s by the weekend.  In fact, West River areas could be back in the 40s, a trend worth watching as some Pacific air moves back into KELOLAND.
