Snow Prediction Update

December 28, 2012, 6:16 PM by Scot Mundt

Snow Prediction Update

Once it started at seven in the morning Thursday, the snow didn't stop falling for more than 24 hours.  By late Friday morning, nearly five inches had fallen in Sioux Falls.  It has helped my prediction get almost halfway there.

Sioux Falls currently sits at 13.5 inches for the year.  That about 2.5 inches below what we had all of last year and about 43 percent of my prediction of 31.2 inches for this year.

While the snow wasn't as heavy in northeast, central, or western KELOLAND, we inched closer in those areas too.  Aberdeen has just under 14 inches, about forty percent of the way there.  Pierre is close to halfway, while western South Dakota still needs blankets of snow.  Rapid City is just over a quarter of the way while the Hills are not even a fifth of the way.

We'll have to deal with the cold for awhile and I don't foresee any more snow in the near future until around mid-January.  You can read more about that in my blog on Scot's Weather Corner.
