Storm Center Update-Friday AM

December 28, 2012, 6:33 AM by Brian Karstens

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Snow is ending this morning across eastern KELOLAND, but this system left behind a healthy swath of new accumulation.  Here are a few of the snowfall totals:

Sioux Falls……4.8”
Rock Valley…..4”
Luverne……3.4”
Vermillion…..4.5”
Gregory…..5”
Tripp…….6”
Tyndall……7”
Yankton…..7”
Geddes…..6”
Tabor…5.5"

Brookings...3.7"

Sheldon……3.5”
Pickstown…..5”
Lakefield, MN…..3.5”
Wessington Springs……5”
White Lake……4”
Sioux Center…..4.3”
Huron……2.8”
Mitchell….4.4”

You can find a list of more snow totals at the cocorahs.org site as well.

Now that the snow is ending, dry and quiet weather will be on the way for the weekend.  We will be watching the wind forecast, but as of now, blowing snow issues should not be widespread.  The Summit area may be subject to some blowing snow and winds tomorrow in central KELOLAND could go over 15mph for a brief time in the afternoon.  We’ll have to watch the wind forecast next week too because the fresh snow is very powdery and a windy day could create some problems.  Right now, I don’t see anything too windy, so that is good news.

Temperatures will remain chilly into the New Year with highs mainly in the teens in the east and lower 30s in the far west.
