D-C Baseball Camp

December 27, 2012, 10:40 PM by Cat Clark

D-C Baseball Camp
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

If you love the game like Dusty Coleman you can always find a place to refine your skills, no matter the weather. And when you combine a love for the game with professional coaches and players as well as a state of the art facility. Well then the D-C Baseball camp is for you.

Dusty said, "I think a lot of guys out here really want to work hard and that's the biggest key. If they come out here in December trying to get better for baseball season that starts in May or April, you can tell that they really want it."

This is the fifth year Coleman has put together his baseball clinic in Sioux Falls. Each year they get more and more kids involved, so for the first time this year they took advantage of the new Sanford Fieldhouse.

Coleman added by saying, "Here we can use normal baseballs and it plays like the field. Which is good because you create good habits. In the off season is where you really take the biggest steps performance wise."

It's a work ethic like that that Dusty wants to instill in a community that instilled it into him when he was learning the game he fell in love with.

"When I was a kid I use to go to as many camps as I could. The Augie camp and a couple other ones. I just thought it would be nice to come back and do a camp and give back to the community that always helped and supported me. We just hope they take what they've learned here and continue to work to get better and that kind of the name of the game," said Coleman.

Coleman went on from O'Gorman to playing college ball at Wichita St. In Kansas. After a successful college career Dusty was drafted in the 28th round of the 2008 draft by the Oakland A's. He currently is a member of their minor league system and enjoys playing the game he loves.

Coleman added this, "it's really fun. It's a tough life because your playing a lot everyday, and your away from your family. But if you love the game its worth it."
