It was a bone-chilling Christmas morning.
Sioux Falls bottomed out at -5, while Huron sank to -10, Watertown -13 and Aberdeen -16. Despite some sunshine, most places are having a difficult time trying to reach double digits for Christmas day highs.
Tonight will be cold again – but due to the presence of some clouds, probably not as cold as this morning. We’re forecasting single digits below zero for most of the region.
We should reach the low teens in KELOLAND Wednesday, with partly cloudy skies.
On Thursday, a storm system should cross the area. We anticipate a broad swath of 1-3” snow Thursday into Friday morning. It does not look like the winds will be terribly strong, which should limit the blowing snow threat. After the snow clears, it looks like another colder-than-normal weekend.
