Revisiting Christmas Week 2009

Revisiting Christmas Week 2009

The snow started on December 20, 2009 and didn't stop until Dec. 27. During that time, 21.5 inches of snow fell with ten and a half of that falling on Christmas Day.

It made for a December to remember with nearly 28 inches for the month.

There was so much snow and wind on Christmas Day that Sioux Falls issued a no travel alert, that's something that rarely happens.

While computer models were pointing to a storm system much like the one in 2009, they now have backed off on it.

A lot of the information we are seeing now, has the system well to our south and east but they do have very cold air moving in from the north.
