Pierre Teenager Charged With Murder

December 19, 2012, 2:10 PM

Pierre Teenager Charged With Murder
PIERRE, SD -

A Pierre teenager is charged with first degree murder for the shooting death of another teenager Tuesday night.

Pierre Police Chief Bob Grandpre says 16-year-old Braiden McCahren was arrested and is currently being held in the Hughes County Shelter Facility.

Officials were called to the 400 block of North Buchanan Avenue Tuesday night at 5:28 and found three teenage boys.  Sixteen-year-old Dalton Williams, a sophomore at Riggs High School, was dead from what appears to be a gunshot wound.

Investigators say this is in isolated incident and there is no further threat to the public.  Counselors have been working with law enforcement to help others in the schools and community.

The Division of Criminal Investigation is also working on the case.

Sammi Bjelland is gathering more information and will have the latest tonight on KELOLAND News.
