The family of a man who died after he fell down a hotel smokestack says he was a family man and talented comedian who stole the show when he performed.
Nicholas Wieme, a native of Pipestone, Minn., moved to Chicago after graduating from college to follow his dream of being a stand-up comic.
The 23-year-old died Thursday after he fell 22 feet down the smokestack of the historic Intercontinental Hotel in Chicago.
Authorities said Wieme was on the roof with his girlfriend and was attempting to take a photo before he fell.
In a statement, his family said Wieme's talents "were only topped by fierce love and loyalty to his family and friends."
Wieme performed at iO Theater, formerly known as ImprovOlympic, one of Chicago's top comedy companies.
