A South Dakota man has pleaded guilty and been sentenced in North Dakota in a two-state chase in 2009 that ended with three people injured.
Travis Peters, of Belle Fourche, S.D., pleaded guilty Tuesday in Dickinson, North Dakota, to assault while fleeing a police officer. The two misdemeanor charges were dismissed as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors.
Peters was sentenced to serve three years in prison and given credit for time served. He was previously sentenced in South Dakota and is on parole.
Authorities say that during the 2009 chase Peters lost control of his car and hit two other vehicles on U.S. Highway 85 in southwest North Dakota. Peters and two people in one of the vehicles were injured.
