Brule Performs At Home For A Good Cause

December 12, 2012, 6:13 PM by Sammi Bjelland

Brule Performs At Home For A Good Cause
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

The American Indian Rock Opera group, Brule, has performed thousands of shows over the past two decades. They travel the world performing their unique concert.  And this week they're back in the Rushmore State to support a good cause.

"It always feels good to come back to South Dakota. I think there's no mistaking it is our home. And Sioux Falls is really our base of operation these days." Brule member Paul LaRoche said.

The concert features lights, upbeat rhythms and traditional Native American dance. But it's not all about the group. Proceeds from their holiday show will go to help the Sioux Empire Home Builders Care Foundation.

Over the past 18 years, the HBA and Care Foundation have donated more than $170,000 to help support educational and charitable activities in Sioux Falls.

"It's been a good program. I think that we've worked well together. It's a good fit for what we've tried to do. We believe in their charity so we've continued to work with them.  And in return, they've continued to help sponsor our show," LaRoche said.

On top of this week's concert, Brule is excited about some other big news.

"We have just found out that we are going to set up a permanent performance venue in the heart of the Black Hills of South Dakota. It's a beautiful location.  We've performed there off and on over the years but we're going to be performing regularly at the High Country Guest Ranch which is four miles East of Hill City, which will be the home of Brule," LaRoche said.

They will perform at the High Country Guest Ranch from June through August, six days a week, for the next decade or longer.  It's a big commitment but a perfect fit for their group.

"Whenever we perform there, we feel like it's important to be a part of a cultural exchange for visitors and things of that sort. So it's just really, if there was one spot to pick for us, in the entire country to perform seasonally, our first pick has always been the Black Hills," LaRoche said.

To support the Care Foundation and catch the Brule concert, you can buy tickets at the Washington Pavilion box office or at the door on Thursday night. The show is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
