Drivers Across KELOLAND Wait Out Storm

Drivers Across KELOLAND Wait Out Storm
MITCHELL, SD -

Many drivers were traveling on the interstates when the officials closed the roads, forcing them to pull off and wait out the storm.

One of them includes our own Derek Olson who is waiting out the weather in Mitchell.

He says before the roads closed, it was terrible. Olson was travelling from Sioux Falls to Rapid City. He left in the early morning on Sunday.

“It wasn’t long before we realized it was a wrong decision,” Olson said.

Roads were slick, icy and the winds were also blowing, coming out of the northwest. All of that makes driving on the Interstate almost impossible.

Olson says there were times when he was only driving 20 miles per hour.

Many other travelers stopped in Mitchell to wait out the storm and wait for the Interstate to open back up.
