SD Couple Dies In Multi-Vehicle Crash Near Ipswich

December 7, 2012, 7:54 PM

NEAR IPSWICH, SD -

A multi-vehicle crash near Ipswich Friday morning kills a South Dakota couple.

Authorities say 82-year-old Henry Huft was driving on Highway 12 east of Ipswich when he lost control of his pickup. The pickup then collided with a van, went into the ditch and was hit by another vehicle.

Huft and his wife Donnis, of Bowdle, died in the crash. Neither were wearing their seatbelts.

The driver of the van, Douglas Kenny, 54, was wearing his seatbelt. He has serious injuries.

The third vehicle, driven by a minor, went into the ditch to avoid the crash. That vehicle struck the driver’s side of the Huft’s vehicle in the ditch.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating.
