Neighbors Moving Forward Following Vault Decision

December 5, 2012, 5:52 PM by Shawn Neisteadt

Neighbors Moving Forward Following Vault Decision
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

The embattled business marketed as the hottest night club in Sioux Falls has cleared a major hurdle.  Sioux Falls City Council members voted 7 to 1 to allow The Vault to retain its liquor license.

Neighboring business say the night club's after-hour traffic is costing them business and opposed the renewal.  The Vault's owners say they're making adjustments.

"It's a neighborhood issue, it's a city issue.  The city doesn't want these things to continue," Attorney Vince Jones, who is representing the neighboring hotels, said.

Jones says the opposition stretched far beyond the hotels.  Although the city council renewed the liquor license, Jones and those he represented say they're hopeful with new strategies from The Vault, including adding personnel to the parking lot, those problems can be a thing of the past.

"Our clients are reasonable people.  All they want are these problems to be addressed and to go away.  And as long as that happens, they're going to be happy," Jones said.

Jones adds that he's hopeful this entire issue is behind everyone in the neighborhood and that they can all move forward.

"We're planning on moving forward and working with these people to be good neighbors.  That's what I think the city council expects.  But at the same time, the city council was very clear that they don't want to tolerate the type of behavior that's been going on at that night club or outside of that night club since back to 2004," Jones said.

That means the activity surrounding the club over the next 12 months could ultimately decide the club's fate.
