Jury Finds Man Guilty Of Theft By Deception

LEAD, SD -

A Lead man is going to prison for swindling his mother-in-law out her life savings.

A jury found 53-year old Kenneth Dale Thomason guilty of theft by deception. 

In 2008, Thomason and his wife convinced his mother-in-law to giving them her share of a hotel in Lead.

The couple sold the property took the money to the Dominican Republic.

His wife pleaded guilty and agreed to give up Thomason's whereabouts to federal agents.

Thomason faces 15 years in prison and another trial for being a habitual offender.
