Mobile Deposit Service For Wells Fargo Customers

November 29, 2012, 11:41 AM by Angela Kennecke

Mobile Deposit Service For Wells Fargo Customers
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Wells Fargo customers in South Dakota can now deposit checks anytime and anywhere they want, thanks to a new mobile app for smartphones.

All customers have to do is take a pictures of the front and back of the endorsed check and enter the amount to make the deposit.

In a test in a limited number of states, Wells Fargo customers deposited more than 600,000 checks by smartphone in the first five months.

"The exponential growth of mobile banking is fueling the thirst for more futuristic, easy-to-use applications such as mobile deposit," said Brian Pearce, senior vice president, head of the Retail Mobile Channel, Digital Channels Group, Wells Fargo. "Mobile deposit is a very popular service among our customer base. Customers love the added convenience of depositing checks while on the go."

Wells Fargo has now launched the program nationwide to included KELOLAND states.

For security reasons, the transaction encrypted and the check images are not stored on the mobile device.

U.S. Bank was the first bank to roll out mobile deposits.
