Montrose Woman Killed In I-90 Crash

November 28, 2012, 3:09 PM

A Montrose woman lost her life in a one-vehicle crash on Interstate 90 west of Humboldt on Tuesday.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says Junell Johnston, 44, was a passenger in a 1999 Ford Ranger being driven by her husband.  As the couple was going east on I-90, 47-year-old David Lee Johnston lost control and the vehicle slid off the road.  It rolled numerous times before coming to rest in the westbound lanes of the interstate.  The couple was thrown from the vehicle; neither one was wearing a seatbelt.

David Lee Johnston suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash.

Investigators says speed and slippery conditions were factors in the crash.
