Records fell in southeast KELOLAND today, but cold air is on the way.
Winds will increase tonight in western SD and they will eventually move into central and eastern KELOLAND late tonight and tomorrow. I wouldn’t be surprised if temps remain steady or slowly fall during the day. Very minor QPF is showing up in northern and northeast SD tomorrow. Much of the QPF is behind the 540 thicknesses and 0 degree isotherm, so light snow will be possible (less than an inch).
Friday will be cold and dry, not as windy. A little warmer on Saturday (closer to avg), but cold air returns on Sunday. Watch western SD on Sunday. Snow will develop around the Hills and I wouldn’t be surprised for advisories to be issued for the higher elevations. Snow will continue into Monday with light snow possible (20%) in central and northeast SD, very light QPF.
Remaining cold next week, but a ridge will eventually build late next week and into the weekend, both GFS and EURO show it.
