Storm Center Update-Tuesday AM

November 20, 2012, 6:07 AM by Brian Karstens

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Another very mild day is forecast across KELOLAND with temperatures quickly warming into the mid and upper 50s in the east, with mid to upper 60s in the west.  Winds will be from the south at 5-15mph.  The mild weather trends will continue overnight with lows in the 30s in most areas, with 40 in Sioux Falls.  With that start, tomorrow could be a record-breaking day in parts of KELOLAND.

Temperatures on Wednesday are forecast to be 20-30 degrees above normal.  The warmest weather will be found in south-central SD with highs in the mid 70s.  Sioux Falls will close to a record in the upper 60s, with mid 60s in Aberdeen.  Pierre and Rapid City will both be near 70.

Thanksgiving will be cooler as a cold front marches across KELOLAND during the day.  Not only will it be cooler, the winds will crank up from the northwest at 25-40mph in the west and central during the morning, with higher winds spreading toward Sioux Falls during the afternoon.  A few light snow showers will be possible in the northeast, but most areas will be dry.  The cooler weather trends are expected into Friday with highs only in the 30s and 40s.

The weekend will remain cooler, but highs may bounce back to near 50 in a few spots.  The trends are still looking colder early next week as a strong arctic front moves our way.  Some snow may accompany the front, but that may be confined to western SD.  With the lack of snow, the cold air will be modified somewhat as it heads south.  Highs will likely drop into the 30s, possibly colder.
