MBK: Wyoming Hands USD Second Loss
LARAMIE, WY -

Luke Martinez scored a game-high 21 points and Leonard Washington added 17 in lifting Wyoming to a 71-51 win against South Dakota on day two of the Cowboys’ Global Sports Showcase. Wyoming improved to 3-0 while the Coyotes fell to 0-2.

Martinez hit back-to-back three-pointers during a 10-0 run to begin the game. He finished 7-of-9 from behind the arc. Wyoming hit 12 treys in all and shot 45 percent from the field.

South Dakota got 12 points from Casey Kasperbauer, 11 from Juevol Myles and 10 from Tyler Flack. The Coyotes went eight minutes without a field goal during the opening half and trailed 35-20 at the break.

USD forwards Trevor Gruis and Karim Rowson, who combined for 42 points Wednesday, were held scoreless in the first half against Wyoming. Gruis had three second-half buckets and finished with seven points and six rebounds.

Jordan Boots made his 100th collegiate three-pointer and finished with five points off USD’s bench. Myles had five of South Dakota’s 10 steals. The Coyotes shot 30 percent from the field, including a 7-for-28 effort in the first half.
