Tea Police Resignations Under Investigation
TEA, SD -

The Lincoln County State's Attorney is reviewing the cases former Tea Police Chief Brian Ketterhagen worked on while leading the department.  Ketterhagen resigned from the job unexpectedly last week.

Since the resignation, KELOLAND News has learned about a lawsuit in Wyoming that accuses Ketterhagen of conspiring with other investigators at his old job and withholding evidence in a case in order to convict a suspect.

Lincoln County State's Attorney Tom Wollman has said the allegations in that civil lawsuit are serious so officials in South Dakota need to be prudent and review all of the cases Ketterhagen worked on in Tea.  However, Wollman adds that as the police chief, Ketterhagen did not do much investigative work.

No details have been provided in the resignation but the South Dakota Attorney General's Office confirms it is investigating whether there was any misconduct by either Ketterhagen or Tea Police Officer James Klimple, who also resigned last week.

The Mayor of Tea says the city is already working to find a new chief and is committed to continuing 24-hour police protection in the small community outside Sioux Falls.
