Pierre High School To Hold Veterans Day Event

PIERRE, SD -

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has selected a Pierre high school as a regional site for a Veterans Day celebration.

The Department of Veterans Affairs and the Veterans Day Committee chose T.F. Riggs High School's annual Veterans Day celebration to be the regional site this year.

The school has been holding an annual ceremony on Veterans Day for more than a decade.

Although Veterans Day falls on Sunday this year, the school will be hosting its celebration on Monday so students can participate. Gov. Dennis Daugaard is also expected to attend. Nick Johnson, a graduate of T.F. Riggs High School who has served overseas with the South Dakota National guard, is the guest speaker.

The event starts Monday at 10:45 a.m.
