Some South Dakota service men and women are coming home from overseas.
Twenty-seven members of the 114th security forces squadron spent the last half a year on duty.
Now, the troops will come home on two separate flights Wednesday night. The first one landed a little before 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Families, friends, other guard members and even the freedom riders welcomed the soldiers.
When you've been waiting more than six months for this day, this final day was even more difficult. Families we talked with say they can’t wait for that first hug.
“It is unbelievable that it's almost here. It's been over seven months. It just is hard to believe its here. I don't think any of our emotions are at the top yet,” family member Penny Ogden said.
