How Social Media Is Reacting To Election 2012

November 7, 2012, 6:00 PM by Sammi Bjelland

How Social Media Is Reacting To Election 2012
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

The chatter online has been as divided as the election itself.

The most popular image on social media is what President Obama posted on Twitter a little after 8:00 p.m. Tuesday. It's a picture is of the President holding his wife Michelle with the caption, "four more years."

This was retweeted on the social media site over 700,000 times. According to twitter, there was an average of more than 320,000 tweets per second until the President gave his victory speech.

On our KELOLAND News Facebook page, we got a lot of reaction from you the viewers.

The two topics that reached the most people, were the results from the Referred Law 16 ballot question, which reached 11,000 people. And, of course, the U.S. House race reached 12,000 people.

We also had more than a couple hundred comments regarding the presidential race.

One of the more positive remarks was from Chrissy who said:

Just because an election is done doesn't mean the fight is over. Keep standing up and fighting for what you believe in, don't just sit back and settle.

On our Facebook page we asked you how you felt about the end of this election season, and many of you seemed relieved the negative ads are now over.

Stacy on Facebook said:

Yes I am so glad it is over with. This election year has caused so much anger, and hurtful words between families and friends. It is not worth the fight or the argument.
