Polls are set to close in eastern South Dakota at 7 p.m. But reports of long lines could keep some open for longer.
Patience is the word of the evening in Minnehaha County, where people at several locations are still waiting to vote. At the Brandon Fire Hall, voters are reporting they are waiting more than an hour before finally filling out a ballot.
Polling places are not the only busy locations. Preparations are underway at the Republican and Democratic Party Headquarters in Sioux Falls, where candidates will wait for results to be reported.
Results from the South Dakota Secretary of State aren't expected until all polls are closed in the state. People in western South Dakota have until 7 p.m. MST to cast a ballot.
