Storm Center Update - Saturday AM

November 3, 2012, 7:36 AM by Ben Cathey

If you’ve been following the forecast lately, there aren’t many surprises for the next few days.  Clouds and temperatures will be the big stories for today.  Clouds will stick around and keep the northeast on the cool side.  There will be more sun and warmth West River, where we’ll eventually top out in the middle 50s.  South and west of Sioux Falls, skies should clear out later in the day.  Sioux Falls will be right on the borderline of clouds and sun.

Tonight there is a slim chance of flurries along the James River Valley.  We don’t expect much, if any, accumulation.  Most others will be cool, down near 30.

We’re still tracking the system in North Dakota for tomorrow.  That will dive to the southeast over the next 24 hours.  By tomorrow evening, light rain and maybe some light snow will move across the northeastern parts of KELOLAND.  The best chance for snow is on Buffalo Ridge and on the plateau.  From an Aberdeen-Worthington line, some could see a little more than a quarter inch of moisture.  Sioux Falls is in line for a tenth or so.  This system won’t bring too much, but it’s about the best chance until next weekend.  This event looks to be over by early Monday.

For Election Day through Thursday we’ll have plentiful sunshine and warmer weather.  The breeze picks back up next Thursday ahead of a cooler Friday.  We’re still watching next weekend for more active weather.
