Hurricane Forces 6,800 Flight Cancellations

Hurricane Forces 6,800 Flight Cancellations

Hurricane Sandy, which is bearing down on the East Coast, could affect travelers leaving out of Sioux Falls when they reach their connecting flight.

Major carriers such as American Airlines and Delta plan to cancel all flights into and out of three area airports in New York.  A flight-tracking service says more than 6,800 flights have been canceled nationwide.

An error on the Sioux Falls Regional Airport's website Monday Morning showed the earliest flight leaving the airport was taking off at 2:20 p.m.  While flights are taking off on time Monday, you may want to check the status of all your flights before you head out the door.

Shawn Neisteadt will talk with airport officials about how they're dealing with changes at other airports on KELOLAND News.
