Fatal ATV Crash In Faulk County

A ten-month-old baby died and a driver was seriously hurt in an ATV crash on Saturday, October 28, just three miles east of Onaka in Faulk County.

South Dakota Highway Patrol says Gary Gerard Rausch, 53, was driving on private land with three minors on an ATV when he turned onto a right-of-way and lost control of the vehicle.

The ATV rolled onto the driver's side and pinned a Rausch and ten-month-old Amaya Larson underneath the vehicle.

Both were transported to the hospital where Larson died.

Rausch had serious, non-life threatening injuries.

The two other minors were not hurt.

This story was updated to reflect that After further investigation, the South Dakota Highway Patrol found Gary Gerard Rausch was driving an ATV on private property when the crash occurred with three minors.
