THIS IS A COPY OF AN EMAIL I SEND OUT TO JAY, BRIAN, AND BEN. JUST SOME THOUGHTS ON WHAT THE FORECAST MODELS ARE DOING. IT MAY OR MAY NOT REFLECT THE FINAL FORECAST. BE SURE TO VISIT OUR WEATHER PAGE FOR UPDATES. –SCOT MUNDT
Weak wave will bring light rain and light snow mainly east of MO River late in the day Saturday into Saturday night. QPF is rather low (nothing on the ETA), but a half inch to an inch (for those that actually get snow) here and there will be possible. Temps will remain cold with highs in the 40s. Not too impressed with a big warm-up anytime soon, but slowly warming closer to average by Wednesday should suffice.
Average highs on Wednesday…
Sioux Falls: 52°
Rapid City: 55°
Before then, a slight chance for light rain or light snow will be possible in NE SD on Tuesday. I’m not overly optimistic about seeing much sunshine until Wednesday.
Next weekend can be interesting. Both GFS and EURO bring a wave in from the west/southwest. This should at least give us a chance for rain, NEXT weekend (beyond the seven-day forecast). For now, most models are keeping the bulk of the rain south.
