THIS IS A COPY OF AN EMAIL I SEND OUT TO JAY, BRIAN, AND BEN. JUST SOME THOUGHTS ON WHAT THE FORECAST MODELS ARE DOING. IT MAY OR MAY NOT REFLECT THE FINAL FORECAST. BE SURE TO VISIT OUR WEATHER PAGE FOR UPDATES. –SCOT MUNDT
Canadian cloud product erodes the clouds overnight, so I’m still going with clear tonight in central and eastern KELOLAND. Temps in the teens and 20s. Not as sunny as I originally thought for tomorrow, skies will become partly cloudy in eastern SD, and temps will remain cold with highs in the 40s.
Things get a little tricky as northwest flow sets up into next week. Subtle waves will move through SD, bringing slight chances for light precip. GFS has four waves: Saturday PM, Monday AM, Tuesday AM, and Wednesday PM (in the NE). CAN has two: Saturday PM and Tuesday PM. EURO has two: Sunday AM and Wednesday (in the NE). I added chances for Saturday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (NE). These waves only have light QPF, so I only added 20 pops. I think the timing of these waves will also be dependant on what happens as low pressure bombs in the northeast United States next week.
