Dry Autumn Weather

October 25, 2012, 6:30 AM by Scot Mundt

Dry Autumn Weather

The rain at the beginning of autumn followed what most of the summer gave KELOLAND. That was very dry, as Aberdeen, Pierre and Mobridge set records for driest Septembers.

October has been giving us hope of a pattern change that has been allowing for better chances for rain, but many locations are still well below where we should be.

Since September 1, much of the rain has fallen along and east of the James River Valley with reports of nearly an inch in Aberdeen to over two inches in Mitchell and Sisseton.  Central and western KELOLAND has skipped out on the rain with amounts at a couple tenths.

Whether you've been getting the rain or not, when you compare the amounts to average, we're still down from as little as an inch in the northwest to as much as three inches in central and south central South Dakota.

So, the rain and light snow chances will help anywhere it falls over the next 24 hours.
