SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Rain continues to develop in western SD this morning, with snow in the Black Hills.  Winter weather advisories have been posted today for the higher elevations where 3-6” will be possible by tonight.

Rapid City could be looking at 1-2”.  Meanwhile, rain showers will be expanding toward Pierre and Aberdeen, with showers also expected in Sioux Falls by this afternoon.  Some thunderstorms are even possible farther east and south toward Sioux City later today.

The rain will be expanding today and tonight, with snow expanding east as well as colder air filters in from the north.

Most areas will see some snow tonight, with the most likely area northwest of a Mitchell to Brookings line.  Sioux Falls will also see a few snowflakes tomorrow morning, but the best chance of a slushy half inch to 1” snow will be farther west and north.

Temperatures will remain chilly the next few days with highs in the 40s.
