Thune: McGovern's Legacy To Live On At DWU
George McGovern | May 2012

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

U.S. Sen. John Thune says George McGovern lived a life of exemplary service and his legacy of service will live on.

McGovern died Sunday in Sioux Falls.

In a statement, Thune says McGovern's legacy of service will carry on through a leadership program created in his name at Dakota Wesleyan University.

Thune says South Dakota will mourn the loss of the war hero and statesman.

Thune says that despite their political differences, he was always proud to call McGovern his friend. Thune is a Republican while McGovern was Democrat.

Thune says his prayers are with McGovern's friends and family members.
