Giant Pumpkin Races In Viborg

October 20, 2012, 6:39 PM by Jenna Petrak

Giant Pumpkin Races In Viborg
VIBORG, SD -

These boat races, or what participants call a, "Pumpkin Regatta", had the crowd in awe at Swan Lake in Viborg today.

Participants carved out giant pumpkins and raced in them as if the pumpkins were kayaks.

One of the participants, who's a frequent kayaker, says it was a lot harder than he expected.

"I've done kayaking and some people say that's tough, but this is really, really difficult," said Justin Lammers

This is the first year for the event, and judging from the popularity today, organizers hope to do it again in the future.
