Families from a small community in North Dakota are not waking up in their homes after a fire destroyed their town.
Bucyrus, North Dakota, has a population of 27. But the small town now faces big challenges after nearly being destroyed.
The town was evacuated around 5 p.m. Wednesday as a fire moved toward the town.
At least four homes were destroyed along with several farm buildings.
Several agencies from both North Dakota and South Dakota responded and had the fire under control by 10 p.m. Wednesday. Residents still are not allowed back to their homes yet because crews are working to put out hot spots.
Highway 12 is still closed. But officials say the highway will likely open later Thursday morning after the smoke clears.
No injuries have been reported.
