A mild day is forecast, but this is the last one before a big change toward cooler weather and wind heads our way.
Our planner includes highs today into the mid 70s in many areas with winds from the west or southwest at 10-15mph.
A cold front will be knocking on our door this evening in western SD, and this front will bring strong winds from the west. High wind watches are in effect for much of western and central SD starting tomorrow into Thursday. I expect these watches will be expanded farther east.
A few showers may accompany this change in the weather. Futurescan shows the showers after midnight as they cross KELOLAND.
The best chances will be in the northern half of KELOLAND.
A second storm system will reinforce those strong winds on Thursday. Winds on Thursday could gust over 50mph along with cooler weather and a few showers across the east.
Once this system passes the area, the weekend is looking warmer with highs returning to the 60s in many areas, possibly the 70s.
