Walk/Run For Life To Raise $120,000

October 13, 2012, 6:13 PM

Walk/Run For Life To Raise $120,000
SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Pro-life supporters are expected to raise more than $120,000 Saturday for the Alpha Center to give pregnant women more options.

Hundreds of people laced up their sneakers for the 2012 Walk/Run for Life event supporting the Alpha Center. It started and ended at the O'Gorman High School stadium and weaved along the bike path near the Big Sioux River. Organizers say this is the biggest event yet and they are humbled by the support.

"This issue sometimes gets people kind of emotional on both sides.  But people really care and they are really helping young women. There are a lot of our clients here walking today with their babies and a lot of these women we've helped 10-15 years ago and are here today and it is kind of a reunion to see everybody. It's a really great feeling," Alpha Center Founder Leslee Unruh said.

Several similar events took place across the state to raise money for the Alpha Center.
